The Lazy Barn’s 2Wish Charity Evening: A Community Coming Together

There’s something truly special about Trent at this time of year. As the evenings draw in and the village begins to glow with festive warmth, our community always finds ways to come together — not just in celebration, but in support of one another. This November, we’re shining a light on a fantastic event taking place just across the way from us at The Lazy Barn in Trent Court: their 2Wish Charity Evening, held on Saturday 6th December 12-4pm.

The Lazy Barn team are hosting a beautiful night dedicated to raising funds for 2Wish, an incredible charity that supports families affected by the sudden and unexpected loss of a child or young adult. Their work is compassionate, vital, and deeply meaningful — so when we heard our neighbours were hosting a charity evening, we knew it was something the whole village should know about.

Guests can expect a wonderful mix of pampering and treats, including:

  • Exclusive event offers

  • Complimentary treatments

  • An Elemis skincare station

  • Cheese & wine served throughout the evening

  • A charity prize draw

  • £10 entry, with proceeds supporting 2Wish

It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a relaxing evening while contributing to an important cause — and we’re proud to help raise awareness from just across the road.

At the Rose & Crown, we love seeing Trent businesses join forces, especially when it’s for something that makes a real difference. If you’re planning to head to the event, why not make an evening of it? Pop into the pub before or after, raise a glass to community spirit, and celebrate everything that makes this village such a special place to live.

Tickets are limited, so if you’d like to support The Lazy Barn and 2Wish, be sure to book your spot. Let’s make this a night to remember — together.

Unveiling Our 2025 Festive Menu: A Christmas Feast at the Rose & Crown

Christmas is one of our favourite times of year at the Rose & Crown — the fires are lit, the decorations are up, and the kitchen comes alive with the scents and flavours of the season. This year, our chefs have crafted a festive menu that brings together classic comfort, refined flavours, and a few surprises we think you’ll love.

Whether you’re planning a family gathering, a festive meet-up with friends, or a celebratory meal with colleagues, our 2024 menu is all about making your Christmas feel memorable, warm, and delicious.

A Sparkling Start

Your festive meal begins with a glass of Prosecco or our seasonal Plum & Cranberry Fizz — the perfect way to toast the occasion and ease into an evening of indulgence.

Starters that Celebrate the Season

We’ve designed each starter to bring winter produce to life:

  • Crispy Burrata with Mulled Pear & Chestnuts
A comforting, textural dish where creamy burrata meets warming spices and festive sweetness.

  • Gin-Cured Chalk Stream Trout
Served with champagne & lemon crème fraiche, caviar, and delicate dill & chive blinis — fresh, elegant, and a little bit celebratory.

  • Goose Rillettes with Baked Apple & Port Syrup
Rich, savoury, and perfectly balanced with fruit and spice — Christmas on a plate.

Show-Stopping Mains

Our chefs wanted to honour tradition, while offering something for every kind of festive diner:

  • Rose & Crown Roast Turkey
With all the trimmings, crafted with love and nostalgia — the centrepiece of any Christmas feast.

  • Roasted Aubergine & Chickpea Fattah
A Middle Eastern-inspired vegetarian option layered with yoghurt garlic & tahini dressing, toasted almonds, tomato, and pomegranate. Vibrant, indulgent, and utterly satisfying.

  • Pan-Roasted Halibut
Served with triple-cooked Jerusalem artichoke, sea vegetables, Nyetimber velouté, and nasturtium oil — a luxurious take on festive dining.

Desserts Worth Lingering Over

Christmas is the season to treat yourself, and our desserts are created with exactly that in mind:

  • Orange, Fig & Cinnamon Baked Cheesecake
Served with cranberry & fig compote — bright, warming flavours with a freshness that cuts through the richness.

  • Yule Log with Cointreau-Soaked Sponge Fingers & Belgian Chocolate
    Deeply indulgent and beautifully nostalgic.

  • Christmas Pudding Panna Cotta
A silky, aromatic twist on a timeless classic, paired with almond biscotti.

Every meal concludes with tea and coffee, ideal for rounding off an evening of festive dining.
